That is not important at all if you already do not have the limit switches or sensors, and even if you do, they can be almost always used.

I use a standard 7i76e becasue its so nice and simple to understand how things work. I don't think the 7i76ed was around when I bought. I would only use sinking inputs if trying to make something compatible with an existing wired up machine.

Note that only the outputs are different between the 7I76,7I76E,7I77,7I84 and the -D versions of these cards, the inputs are always sinking.

SInking outputs are valuable if you are retrofiting a machine and has relays wired for sinking drivers or if you wish to mix output voltages or switch the common output power supply for a set of outputs for safety or other reasons.

sinking is mutch more interesting for divverent Voltiges on mashineng

and also you can use more wider range of items
