Unfortunately the 7I76ED only changes the digital outputs
to sinking vs the 7I76Es sourcing output drivers.

Wow, I didnt know that. I thought it swapped the inputs also. Thanks.

Oh now I'm confused :(
My servo drives are fairly new Chinese drives, step and direction for DC servo motors. My sensors are all NPN. Im currently running Mach4 with Ethernet smooth stepper and BOB. I want to gut all this for Linuxcnc and and use the 7i76e in place of both the ESS and the current 5v BOB.

So with all this in mind is it the 7i76e or ed? I dont mind changing stuff around.

So its looking more like the regular 7i76e and then using pull-up resistors to accommodate all my NPN limit / homing switch inputs. Yes?

Yes , that is what I would do. With the 7i76 or 7i76e you can also fit two mpg's on it as well :)

I would go with the 7i76e if you don't gain anything to help with the inputs. When I built my machine, I bought all these NPN sensors and then found out I should have used PNP's's I just added the pullups and it all works pefectly.

Guys,
do you know if 7i76E / ED can be flashed so instead of 4 STEP/DIRr outputs i can have 4 PWM/DIR outputs? I'd like to try to drive h-bridges and use 7i85 for encoders feedback. Any *.bin exist to do it? Maybe can it be made in HAL file?

Thank you

It certainly possible but does require different firmware
