Emco compact 5 cnc (not pc)

Hi all, I have the above machine, i have seen the pc version running with linuxcnc but not my mk4 ver, Will this work via serial connection - i am using usb to serial adaptor at present. This also has 6 position turret, is there many mods to get this to work cheers. Thanks:)

I did a retrofit of my emco mill.
I found that there was no way to use the built in controller and the serial communication.
I had to replace the main controller with something linuxCNC supported.

All you need is a PC that has a parallel port and a breakout board breakout board
Or a PC with ethernet and a mesa card. 7I92 This card will still need the break out board above but removes the trouble of finding a old pc with the right ports and finding one that has good latency to support the real time functions.

In theory you could possibly code a control system and make it work with linuxCNC but that task was out of my ability. It was much faster and reliable to just swap out the main control board.
