Hey thanks for the link. I have a set of cables for all the setup. I decided to really listen and put this control back on the shelf for a bit. I am going to use closed loop steppers just to avoid the testing and get more familar with linuxcnc. Using the open frame moog power supply and slated cabinet on steppers. Later I can build a smaller frame mill with the moog motors using the stepper machine. over kill my office with testing and check this place more for info. This is a great place I will be back!!

I have built 3 fully functional cnc routers using Moog animatics motors. I use the Ethernet Smooth Stepper with the break out board for the heart of the router. SM3420 and SM43165 closed loop servo motors for the axis. Two of the routers are 2 foot by 2 foot by 16 inches in the Z axis. The other one is 4 foot by 4 foot by 12 inches in the Z axis. I used Mach4 for the user interface. Works great. They are about 3 years old now and all are still running great. One has about 5000 hours of run time now. Ground bounce was the worse issue. I made an in-line, plug compatible PCB to isolate the motors from the controller board. Animatic’s design has the motor power and the logic power connected. With a 5 volt step/direction signal, it doesn’t take much. High speed optical coupler works great.
