Drive enbale active low - simple but yet it won´t do was created by Onkelmat
Hello folks,
long time no see. I´m on a new retrofit project and i ran in a new problem. I want to enable the drives with linux cnc but i can´t get the active low to work.
I´ve got a 7i77 hooked up
24V Fieldpower
Pin 9 should be drive enable
Pin 10 is GND
I can move the servos when the drives are enabled.
Attached is the pinout for the drives and when i short pin 10 to 9 the drives become enabled and if 9 and 10 are not connected they are disabled. I tried connecting ENA+ and ENA- according to the 7i77 manual. But it doesn´t seem to work, either they are always enabled or always disabled, but no reaction to Linux cnc "machine on" button.
As far As i´ve understood, you should connect pin 9 to ENA+ and pin 10 to ENA- OR pin 10 to control power ground, but control power ground is the ground of the 24V power supply ?
Anyway neither configuration worked... Please enlighten me

Are the drives normally disabled and physically grounding pin 9 (to pin 10) enable the drives?
(this looks to be the case)
You can also verify operation of the enables when connected to the drive by measure in the voltage
from ENA+ to ENA-. It should be a relatively high positive value when disabled and close to 1V when
enabled

They are enabled if pin 9 and 10 are not connected. So in default state with no external relays connected the drives are enabled.
When I short 9 to 10 they become disabled, disconnecting power to the drives and locking the driver.
I´ll measure the pins that come from the drive.
