Simodrive 611 was created by Lintec
Hello everyone
We are currently trying to retrofit an EMCO CNC lathe with Simodrive 611
We have the 7i97T + 7i84 board with the basic GUI Probe.
Has anyone successfully configured this and can send me the .ini and .hal files? for comparison.
The Simodrive drives, even electrically, are not very clear in terms of connection, the drive enable connections (ENA0+, ENA0- GND, AOUT0). As we only have one analog input, we will try to connect GND and AOUT0.
We are trying to find the software to access Simodrive, but we haven't been able.
If anyone has successfully done this and can share, we would appreciate it.

Sometimes, powering enable inputs disables the drive, it's really weird.
Is PNCConf applicable to your setup by chance?
The manual is written in clumsy English for sure.
English is probably not their first language (I assume German is their first).
cache.industry.siemens.com/dl/files/782/...5/v1/FBU_0510_en.pdf
SIDE NOTE:
English and German are similar, but different enough that trying to morph Gerrman into English gives clumsy, unclear, but technically valid English.
Maybe it's bettter to learn a language different enough from one you already know, otherwise you might conflate the two languages.
I do not know German.
I know English, that's all.

Do you have a link to the drive manual or at least the the I/O connections?
You can use MesaCT to generate 7I97/7I97T compatible configurations
plus theres a sample 7i97/7i97t configuration. I think this is in the 7I97T
software support zip file, if not, I can post it here.

The Simodrive 611 is a versatile and universal drive system. It can operate in an open torque loop configuration, allowing LinuxCNC to manage the positioning loop. To achieve this setup, connect your encoders directly to the Mesa card, route the analog control signal (±10 VDC) from the Mesa card to the drive, and wire the drive enable signal between the Mesa card and the Simodrive.
Keep in mind that you'll likely need access to the Simodrive configuration software to properly set up and tune the drive parameters.

If this is for a AC servo, the motor encoder needs to go to the drive for
commutation.
If the drive has a simulated encoder output, that is what connects to the 7I97.
