Suggest RTAI version for me was created by Allie
Hi,
I have an old computer (pre 2010), 2G ram. LinuxCNC 2.9.4 runs on it, but I cannot get the jitter down. I have tried a lot of suggestions on this forum (bios settings, deactivating unused hardware etc.). I think the preempt-rt kernel would not work with this computer.
I want to use it for a 4 axis wood router, no fancy peripherals (keyboard and mouse control). What RTAI version of LinuxCNC is lightweight and still has a user friendly interface. I have not tried any of them, I want to ask here first.
Thanks

I personally think that modern Operating systems need more than 2 cores to run Linuxcnc these days. Give RTAI for 2.94 a go and see how you go.
I have no experience.

Try the wheezy ISO from the downloads page, tho it will limit the version of Linuxcnc you can use. That really isn't an issue as it will work fine. Actually there's a few members that run earlier versions.
