Ver 10 NEW install was created by 5280
Good Day CnC's

I am a "TOTAL" new bee to Linux and to LinuxCnC trying to get the new Ver. 10 to run with the help of AI and maybe 5-6 hours installing on my  Zorin 18.1 Linux computer.
I managed to get it installed only to get an terminating error on opening the program it says to create a report file which i did but can not find the report and don't know how to send it to someone if i did find it. so I seem to need some help if some one can provide some guidance
here is a cut and paste of the error. it will not be hooked to any machine at this time. Just would like to get the program to run for right now

Tks if anyone would like to tackle this. if not I'll understand.

please share your Hal and ini files. I think you have added something that's not necessary.
Can you run an axis sim?

Test using one of the included sim configs, like Axis_mm.
The cooltool one you tested fails here also, but with a different error.

Using the unstable pre release is probably not the easiest entry point for a new user. Unless there is a compelling reason for this  I would strongly suggest to use the stable 2.9.10 instead.

'$ git checkout 2.9' and rebuild

That is why there is a ready made ISO to get you started:
Download and install 'Debian 13 Trixie PREEMPT-RT ISO'

Sorry about Pxxx/Moning about passwords I am leaving M.S. because of how they handle the passwords. I have been building boxes since Aug of 1977 (Almost 50 years) and over 100 boxes's
why cant they just have a check box do you need a password yes / no and leave it at that

It is possible to set up a linux system with no passwords, but it isn't completely simple or recommended (especially on systems with any internet exposure.)

First you can do away with a root password, by leaving that blank when installing. The user password is required while installing, but you can configure Linux to boot directly to the user interface by enabling automatic login, and the system will start without needing to input a password.

If you configured the system without a root password, the installer will have given sudo privileges to the user, and will promp for a password when a sudo command is input at the terminal.

With automatic login and sudo privileges for the user, you would only need to enter your password to perform administrative tasks that probably should be password protected. Otherwise you shouldn't normally need to user your password.

There are ways to even remove the requirement for a password for sudo tasks, but I've never tried and would have to google instructions how to do it. (not to mention that it's generally probably not a good idea.)
