Sorry for the noob question, but how does one install PnCConf in 8.04? Only Linux CNC, StepConf, and Latency Test were in the Linux CNC menu (aside from some manuals). Trying to configure a Mesa 5i25 board to talk to a Gecko G540 and a THCAD-300 (if that makes any difference).

Thanks,
David

What version of linuxcnc are you using?
You need 2.5.3.

If that is the version you have try opening a terminal and typing 'pncconf' to see if it loads.

2.3.5. I just tried these instructions to take it to 2.4 and it gave an error fetching files from the Ubuntu site:

wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?UpdatingTo2.4

Network connection on the machine is fine - can browse the 'net and all that jazz.

Okay, got it upgraded to 2.4.6 with some help in another thread. Should I go ahead and update to 2.5.3? I tried the pncconf command with 2.4.6 and it said it was an alpha version.

Well that was refreshing - I followed the 2.4 to 2.5 updating instructions in the docs and it actually did it the first time without any errors or having to fiddle with anything. PnCConf now says it's Beta 1 version. :)
