7i76 Step0 and Step1 vs X or Z axis (lathe) was created by mooser

Can't get to the LinuxCNC computer right now to check
Does it matter which set (Step0 (pins 1-6) or Step1 (pins 7-12) is the X or Z axis?
I'm wiring the control board and just want to make sure

Ether can be ether axis.
