configuration of closed loop servo

We want to try LinexCNC with a closed loop DC servomotor system as an alternative to more traditional PC card based controllers such as used by Aerotech or Delta-Tau. The velocity and acceleration requirements are high and we do not know if the LinexCNC can compete with these traditional high cost driver and control packages.

The motors are linear and at this time the motor manufacturer and model is unknown. The stage is 50cm by 75cm travel with extremely low break-torque, practically none. The drivers are Allen-Bradley ultra-3000. The encoders are Heidenhain model LS 403 0.1 micron and the system will run at 0.5 to 1.0 meters per second.

I need advice as to which driver and I/O cards to use and how to configure them.

Do you have interpolators for the Heidehain scales?
Are you intending to run this is torque or velocity mode?

Thank you for the reply.

I have model EXE 102 interpolators . The controller will run in velocity mode.

This is probably do-able with a 5I20 and a 7I33TA. Normally I would suggest a 5I25/7I77 combo but your maximum count rate is 10 MHz (.1 uM 1 M/S) which exceeds whats possible with the 7I77s muxed encoders (note 1M/s seems to exceed the LS403s specs (48 M/M) as well)
