View or indicate encoder index pulse was created by spangledboy
I'm getting to the stage where I'm thinking about implementing an automatic homing sequence on my mill. I'm fairly sure that the linear encoder scales have an index pulse and I've connected up the relevant wire to the Mesa 7i77 encoder connections, but I haven't spotted a way to monitor the index pulse.
I'd like to be able to monitor the index pulse for my initial testing so that a) I can check that it's actually there and b) so that I can find out what the distance is between pulses.
I guess I'm missing it in some obvious location, but if someone can point me in the right direction they will have my thanks!

You can only sense the encoder index indirectly .
This is done by setting and monitoring the index_enable pin
when set true, the index-enable pin will stay true until the index is detected
DO NOT test this with drives enabled as the position count will be cleared when
index enable is true and the index is detected.
If the index enable is never cleared there probably a wiring or encoder problem
if the index-enable is always cleared immediately after setting it true, the index
polarity may need to be reversed.
