You will ned to take reasonably light cuts as you only have a single pulse for rpm measurement so if the speed varies during the cut it will be a bit ugly.

Actually a single pulse per rev can be made to work. It's not perfect but it works.

If there is only a single slot on the disk, that will not work for threading or tapping, it does need at least another sensor with much more slots.
