Hello , i hope You are all doing well .A guy showed at my workshop and asked me if I could build an automatic bending machine for steel rods for appliance in construction sites .Machine should look something like this :
I was wondering if anyone here has any kind of experience with this stuff to exchange any ideas for parts that are needed to build this kind of machine.

It looks like a relatively simple 3-axis machine.
It should be pretty easy to control with LinuxCNC, though I imagine that the G-code would need to be hand-coded.
I think that the rotating bend axis needs to be a true axis, then it can make other angles than 90 degrees and could also be used to make gentle curves (if the linear axis is strong enough)

the bending axis should be build with servomotor with reduction , or an electromotor controlled by timer. (eg, wait 3 seconds and rotate the shaft for the product size as desired )

I would use a servo motor with reduction so that the bender position was controlled closed-loop as a G-code axis.Thanks for reply Andy.

I have stirrup bender and thinking to retrofit it on Linuxcnc. So ,if You need information about gear ratio and design . First , what is max wire diameters will be used.
