Machine tools are mechanically guided, whereas hand tools are hand-guided.

So an electric jig-saw is still classed as a hand-tool.

I am not sure how to categorise a Shaper Origin.

Interesting, English is not my native language, so a table saw would still be a hand tool?

My definition would be, a hand tool is moved by the operator.
A machine ist stationary and the part is moved by the operator.
Or the operator is simply watching.

Machine tools are powered by electricity or an internal combustion engine, and they’re used to cut, shape, or smooth metal. Hand tools, on the other hand, are not powered by electricity or an engine; instead, they’re operated by human power.
