When I first started with LinuxCNC the vast majority of the developers were in the USA. (with the exception of a Romanian)
There has definitely been a shift to Europe and Australia, though many of the folk here are still in the USA.
FWIW I am in the UK, because my antecedents managed to avoid being transported.

Mine were 10 pound poms.

And to be sure we're quite proud of Australia being built by convicts.

Insult an Aussie and they'll take on as a badge of honour, Rats of Tobruk is an example, something the OP fails to understand, tho the little weasel hasn't bothered to reply.

I feel sorry for Dixon, no Binder to blame for his performance.

I am not sure how the OP defines long term members. That said I have been around linuxcnc for years. I am in the USA.
Though I don't care much for the politics from either side. Too much bribery and B.S. from all of them, and that's not limited
to just the USA. I would have replied earlier but I was busy playing the video game Satisfactory. Highly recommended.

I would like to play Doom Eternal, but since i messed up my right index finger, it will have to wait.
Already on the third play through, still sweat a lot while paying on "nightmare"...
