8.04 will not power off - Kernel issue?

Likewise - none of my workshop machines turn off completely, it is an issue with that kernel.

All my 8.04 machines are like that too, just never really bothered me.
My 10.04's do not have the problem, but 8.04 runs faster on some machines.
