You need to upgrade to 2.4 first, then to to 2.5

Got LinuxCNC upgraded to latest and greatest with no problems. Sim modes work as expected. Thanks for all the help with that.
My son and I are shifting directions again though. We are going back to building our own CNC router from scratch. When we actually saw a 7"x7" cutting area mocked-up life-sized we decided that for the money buying a kit for >$350 for that tiny size was a bit too expensive. We have mocked-up a machine in life-size cardboard that should do about 12"(x) x 17"(y) for only about $250 plus some stuff I already have lying around.
Even if it goes into "cost overrun mode" and require a few rebuilds I think the experience of the two of us figuring it out together will be worth it.

Size does matter
You can make small things on a big machine, but not vice versa
Good Luck
