... grep par produced no output so I ran lspci without the grep and noticed there was a reference to 'Parallel...' so I ran with ...grep Par and produced the following output:
02:00.0 Parallel controller: SUNIX Co., Ltd. Multiport serial controller (prog-if 03 [IEEE1284])
The information produced when not 'grepping' was this:
02:00.0 Parallel controller: SUNIX Co., Ltd. Multiport serial controller (prog-if 03 [IEEE1284])
Subsystem: SUNIX Co., Ltd. Multiport serial controller
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
I/O ports at e030
I/O ports at e020
I/O ports at e000
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 3
Capabilities: [68] MSI: Enable- Count=1/32 Maskable+ 64bit+
Capabilities: [80] Express Legacy Endpoint, MSI 00
Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
As additional information - when I shifted to the new computer with the add-on parallel port, I had to reconfigure my .HAL file like this: (commented out the original parallel port config and added a new one)
loadrt hal_parport cfg="0xe030 out 0xe020 in"
#loadrt hal_parport cfg="0 out"
Hope that's not 'oversharing' and helpful - thanks so much for the quick response!

Sadly - it IS old... and I feel it - sigh. No OS/2 stuff - but I do still have my TurboCAD for DOS floppies around here somewhere.

Is it a dual parallel port card?
If not, the original hal string should work fine.

It's not dual parallel - however, the 'original' hal string did not work... the string as shown worked with my WHEEZY environment.
