I have a working plasma on linuxmint 19. I didnt update it cause I was afraid it would break. But I need top get it to the latest QTPlasmaC.
Should I install MX using this method and copy the config folder over? Would that work?

I would recommend using the backup button on the Parameters tab, but yes, it will work.

In the 3rd PDF, Section 9 walks you through how to restore a previously working QtPlasmaC config. The most cumbersome part is probably putting the folder in the right place, and then recreating the appropriate symbolic link.

perfect .. i installed qtplasmac and the network works fine too without problems. only drawback for the same pc is the boot time almost double compared to buster but it is not a problem.

Just had a go at this on a Dell laptop, so from a 20 minute affair it is apparent that the Debian official install procedure works as is for 2.8.2:

Did not check 2.9 yet, need sleep badly, but pretty sure it will also work by changing the repos but i would not bet on it as it uses Python3.
Another thing i noticed, the part from section 4 > page 2 is a nice feature of MX and this makes me wonder, if MX has changing boot kernels why other distros do not???
