Downloaded the latest .iso image.
Verified it.
Saved an aging Compaq desktop from the great bitbucket.
Tested the Compag.
Installed Fedora 14.
Works fine.
Replaced the HDD with an unused 120 GB HDD.
Put the CD just burned into the CD.
Step2:
Powered up.
Ubuntu spalsh screen shows just fine.
Progress dots show activity.
The CD shows activity for a few minutes then stops.
The progress dots continue, but there is seemingly no more progress.
Wait 10 minutes.
Try 3 times then quit.
Go to Step2:
Quit:
Write this.

Hello,

Have you tried both 8.04 and 10.04?
Some machines work better with one than the other.
It seems older computers may work better with 8.04.

Good idea.
I'll also try the live CD on another machine.
