In the hal file, change:
setp hm2_7i76.0.stepgen.00.step_type 0
to
setp hm2_7i76.0.stepgen.00.step_type 1
Do that for all the axis/joints.
setp hm2_7i76.0.stepgen.00.step_type 0
to
setp hm2_7i76.0.stepgen.00.step_type 1
Do that for all the axis/joints.

Hello tommylight and PCW,
Thank you for the information regarding the step_type, my x-axis and y-axis work perfectly now!
My z-axis (vertical) however, moves down when I jog in 1 direction and doesn't move back up when I jog in the opposite direction. It just stays at the same level (no movement). I don't think the wiring or the drive parameters are the issue, as I am able to jog the motor with Panaterm. I also made sure to power the brake. I'm not quite sure the cause of this issue.

Did you try homing the Z axis before jogging?

Try setting step type for the Z axis to 0, or that did not work either?
Check the wiring first, then check the drive configuration for the control type.

Hello tommylight,
I tried changing the step type back to 0, but that didn't work either.
I double-checked the wiring as well, and all the connections are solid.
For the drive configuration control type, do you mean setting the parameter to be in position control mode?

Yes, also notice and/change the control type to step/dir or up/down, might want to set it to up/down to match the rest of the drives.
These settings are to be set on the drive itself.

It would be nice to have a look at your hal file, maybe there is something there causing the stepgen to change, i did make that mistake once, banged my head a lot till PCW told me to double check the hal file.

Hello tommylight,
I checked the parameters on the drives, and made sure to match the x-axis parameters to the z-axis parameters.
I'm not sure how to attach files in a quick reply, but below is copy/paste of my .hal file:

Seems ok from a very quick glance, moving on.
Power off everything, on the Mesa board unplug the connectors for X and Z axis, plug the Z drive connector into the X connector on the mesa board, and plug the X drive into the Z connector on the Mesa board.
Power on everything, do some tests and report back the findings.
