Is someone using Gmoccapy Plasma ?

so maybe this makes it more clear.

the values are shown in HalShow, not in DRO.
if signal thc-up is coming, the thcud.z-pos-out is changing very fast to a high value > 5000, but Z is not moving.

here are the hal commands i used in customs.hal
Code:
loadrt thcud addf thcud servo-thread net MoveUp thcud.torch-up <= parport.1.pin-11-in-not net MoveDown thcud.torch-down <= parport.1.pin-12-in-not net arc-ok thcud.arc-ok <= motion.digital-in-00 <= parport.1.pin-10-in net Probe-input motion.probe-input <= parport.0.pin-10-in-not net thc_torch-on => thcud.torch-on unlinkp axis.2.motor-pos-cmd net Zpos thcud.z-pos-in <= axis.2.motor-pos-cmd unlinkp axis.2.motor-pos-fb net thc-pos-fb thcud.z-fb-out => stepgen.2.position-cmd axis.2.motor-pos-fb setp thcud.velocity-tol 4 setp thcud.correction-vel 5 net requested-vel thcud.requested-vel <= motion.requested-vel net current-vel thcud.current-vel <= motion.current-vel

The correction velocity in you picture shows 50. That might be too much. In plasma mode we do not have the luxury of the trajectory planner to do the acceleration and deceleration for us. So when we do correction it starts off at the acceleration parameter that you set in the THCUD component. If that is too fast the motor will "slip" and you will see no movement on the axis. You must start off very slow and low until you see some movement and then you can start to optimize your system.

But I see no correction in your picture??

yes you are right, it was to high for this i changed to 5 and now to 0.001. Now the value is changing very smooth so the stepper should be able to follow it. Bit it didn't.

heres a picture again. Im a little bit wondering about cur-offset is not changing. Afaik should it change to the value the stepper is moving through thcud, or not?

and iḿ not sure about this line
Code:
net thc-pos-fb thcud.z-fb-out => stepgen.2.position-cmd axis.2.motor-pos-fb

i think this is the problem, but dont find how to hook it correctly

YES: i got it
Code:
net thc-pos-out thcud.z-pos-out => stepgen.2.position-cmd net thc-pos-fb axis.2.motor-pos-fb <= thcud.z-fb-out

now z-axis is moving

Marius, big thanks for your patience, can you short tell me how to hook your signals, that the leds in the screen are working?

I am pleased that you got going.

These are the signals involved in the signals panel

net MoveDown => signals.led_MoveDown ---> to your net for "DOWN" from the Proma
net MoveUp => signals.led_MoveUp ----> to your net for "UP" from the Proma
net FloatSwitch => signals.led_FloatSwitch ---> from the probe-in net
net ArcOK => signals.led_ArcOK ---> from the arc_ok pin from the THCUD component
net TorchOn => signals.led_TorchOn ---> from the net that turns your torch on and off
net HeightLock => signals.led_HeightLock ---> you will not use as it is for the software THC solution

When you are done with the implementation you can have a look at doing your own component to handle the corner lock problems. Read a bit on that on the wiki and then I will help you setup the corner lock feature.
Shortly, it looks at the requested velocity and when the torch has decelerated to below a certain preset percentage of the requested velocity, it will stop the THC function. It will restore the function when the speed is again above the corner lock threshold.
You will need this to counter act the corner dive behaviour of the THC.

P.S. Not all the signals and controls provided on the plasma screen are used by all systems. They are all the possible options that one could need to do a very comprehensive THC system but not needed for most.

ok, thanks so far.

now under testing i got a problem that the triple beast from benezan causes sometimes an External E-Stop when firing up the torch.
at the moment iḿ not sure how to get it done and where the problem is

maybe you have an idea with your experience?

Aah so now the fun of plasma starts :)

You have noise on your system. With plasma I use screened wires on all items including the motors. You have to have a common earth point on the controller side only.
The source must be correctly earthed as well.

1) What breakout board do you have?

2) What make and model plasma do you have?

3) How did you wire the emergency and float switches?

4) Are the limit switch wires screened and earthed on controller side
