I may have mistated that it is a Qcount and count.

I believe that the count is the raw encoder count and qcount is the quadrature count (4x)

Mesa high speed encoders are all the same and have the same pin names in hal
They only support quadrature 4X mode (mpg encoders are different, they have no
index capability and usually support 1X and 4X modes)
