I'm in the early phases of swapping my emco lathe equipped with a cnc4pc c11 board that I just added a 7i92 mesa board to. I installed PP to the computer, and after reboot and selecting 'launch path pilot' from the boot option screen, screen goes black and nothing happens.

Are there any obvious areas I'm missing or is it my computer? On a recent post someone made it sound like PP wont boot without a mesa board connected. I have the board connected via the ethernet.. but I haven't flashed it with anything manually.

Thank you for any insight you may have

Make sure EFI is enabled in your BIOS.
Hopefully that’s all it is

The OS will boot without a Mesa card connected. Pathpilot will also try to start but won't complete startup without the card (you will get messages saying there is no connection to the card).

yeh, he's not getting that far
after you get the grub menu you can select which kernel to load. after he selects the kernel the screen goes black.

one issue is EFI as I mentioned
another is an unsupported video card

either can cause this symptom
you can boot with a basic VGA driver and if that works then its video related
theres a parm you can pass to grub to fix the video. I don't recall what it was but it was discussed here in this group previously

Try this:

If you do not get the GRUB screen, hold down SHIFT button after the BIOS screen or after pressing the power button on the PC.
