Possible to use output Mesa 7i76e with buck converter to 5V to use thcad-5... was created by CNCFred
I am just curious if it is possible to use the output of the Mesa 7i76e with buck converters to 5V(E. g. From 24V) to power a cross line laser or the thcad-5.
It would eliminate the usage of using relais instead.

You would typically power a THCAD from the encoder connectors 5V

As described in the Plasma primer here linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/plasma/plas...l#_thcad_connections.
When I added a cross line laser I stepped down 24 volt with a $3 variable power supply from ebay. I don't think I'd like to power it off the 7i76e as it trips a limit switch when its powered on so it must draw a bit of power.
