THCAD10 -THC was created by Hippy
I am running a 7i96 with a THCAD10 to be used as my THC and will of course be using plasmac to control it.

My plasma has 3 options when it comes to arc voltage coming out of the cnc port. (1) 1/50 divided (2) raw undivided (3) 1/16 divided
The other outputs from the port are start/stop and arc ok, also there is a "ground" which they say needs to go work piece lead and likely terminates on the controller ground pin.

I have the THCAD10 powered up with 5v and it has a green light on it so i assume all is good with this.

Looking at my plasma specs it has a no-load voltage of 255v and rated output voltage of 104v and i believe the THCAD10 operates from 0-10v. My very uneducated guess would be i had to use the 1/50 right or wrong?

Yes, you would need to use the 1/50 divider

If you used the 1/16 divider you could only read up to about 170 V
This might be OK if the THC doesn't need to function above this voltage
in normal operation

Is it an Everlast machine? If so, set the divider to 16:1 but set the THCAD configuration to be 24:1
The Everlast is a bit special...

rodw...its not an Everlast, but i think it's a close cousin of one.

Another thing i am confused about....in the manual for the THCAD it mentions it needs an external high voltage resistor for plasma voltage monitoring, but i have looked at several wiring diagrams and i dont see an external resistor in use. I know absolutely nothing about resistors, i have never bought, hooked up or even held one in my life.

You are using a built in divider, so do not worry about it.
That info is for plasma sources with no divider.

I explained this to someone else recently that was confused by it as well. I’ll amend the user guide to make it more clear if need be.

Rtech is such a cousin, but there must be others..
Try it at 16:1 which will be fine with no resistor but if you find the arc voltage seems to be a lot lower than expected (say 60-80 volts) then it will be becasue the internal divider resistance on the voltage divider is seen to be part of the THCAD's resistors. You can also see the difference if you use a multimeter and read the arc voltage when cutting with and without a connection to the THCAD.

One more question....coming out of my cnc port on my plasma one of the pins is called a ground its for the work piece lead but its actually positive polarity. Where would i hook this up on my THCAD 10 board? Or does it hook up somewhere on my 7i96 board? Dont want to smoke something this close to having it fully work.

Can you post a scan or pic of the page from your manual link to the manual?
