PlasmaC Will Not Activate Torch Pin on My 7i96

Hello everyone. I originally posted this in the Laser & Plasma section and then realized that it should have been posted here instead. Sorry for any confusion.

I can't seem to get the torch Output pins to close on my PlasmaC configuration. I have made sure that multiple tools are not enabled. When I enter M3 S1 from the MDI tab, the output pins remain open. I also tried M3 $0 S1 and that does not work either. I have my hal file set to "net plasmac:torch-on => hm2_7i96.0.ssr.00.out-00". I tried this on my base machine for coolant flood and it works there when I enter M8, the pins close. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

You won't get the torch to fire from MDI as PlasmaC will not be in the correct mode because it has not completed probing and moved to Pierce Height.

If you want to test the torch, use the Torch Pulse button in the GUI.

Probe Test just moves the Z axis down until the float switch engages, then throws an error on the screen. If I raise the z-axis a little bit so the float switch does not engage, the z-axis moves down then back up to 0. The torch pins never close.

What does the error say.

Probe test won't fire the torch, you need the Torch Pulse.

What GUI are you using?

Sorry about that. I read your message and fell asleep, then went out to the shop after I woke up and tried Probe Test instead of Torch Pulse.

I went back out to the shop and Torch Pulse worked. Thanks!

FYI the error on Probe Test was Float Switch Engaged While Traveling to Pierce Height. I'm not worried about that error right now. I'm still hooking up the machine right now.

You may have a bit of bounce in the float switch.
The error indicates that there was a successful probe then the float switch activated again while moving up from the top of the material to the Pierce Height.

You may have a bit of bounce in the float switch.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out and make sure there is no bounce.

Bringing this topic back to life. I cannot get my 7i96 to fire the torch either. I have it connected to net plasmac:torch-on => hm2_7i96.0.ssr.00.out-00 in the HAL file, and also physically to that pin. When I watch the HAL Meter while pushing the Torch Pulse button, it just stays FALSE. Any ideas what might be wrong? I've included my Connection.hal file below.

Do you have the torch enabled in the GUI.

Oh my gosh. That was it. Man, I am such a nube. Sorry for the incredibly dumb question. Now that the torch is firing I was doing some testing. At the end of a cycle my torch height goes all the way to the top, then drops all the way back down to the bottom. Kind of weird. Anyways, I'll try to figure that out. I'm sure I'll be posting the formal question about it later. :) Thanks again.
