Ah, as Andy suggested, in this case it would be easier to try the buildbot installation method!
I don't use this much so I don't know if I have everything covered but this should get you started:

So first you would install the official linuxcnc ISO with the 2.8 version :
www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.8.0-buster.iso

Then update to master

Add the key : This is from here: buildbot.linuxcnc.org/

add the buildbot archive signing key to your apt keychain by running this command in a terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net --recv-key EF1B07FEE0EE663E

Then add the packages to the repository: (This is from linuxcnc.org/docs/html/getting-started/updating-linuxcnc.html )

Click on Applications Menu, then System, then Synaptic Package Manager.

In Synaptic, click on the Settings menu, then click Repositories to open the Software Sources window.

In the Software Sources window, select the Other Software tab.

Delete or un-check all the old linuxcnc.org entries (leave all non-linuxcnc.org lines as they are).

Click the Add button and add a new apt line:

Code:
deb http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster master-rtpreempt deb-src http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster master-rtpreempt
(These can be found here: buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ )

Thanks, I'll try this right away and report back to you.

Can test on a Linux mint distribution or is the distribution included in the .iso file that you communicated to me?

You can also use the mint distro.

[edit]
actually I'm not sure if the repo for the mint distro need to be different (stretch?)

[edit2]
Note that the use of the official ISO seems now the recomended method:

Stretch is not built anymore, so buster is the one to use for Mint 19.x.
There is a quick and updated tutorial for Mint 19.x on the "installing LinuxCNC" section of the forum, it is pinned at the top so easy to find.

I installed "Linuxcnc 2.8.0 buster.iso", nothing works, I can't even do an "Update my system". I would like to make a screenshot for you, I can't even find an application to paste my image ...

I installed "Linuxcnc 2.8.0 buster.iso", nothing works, I can't even do an "Update my system".

I'm afraid this doesn't really tell me anything. (ie does it not boot, or does it crash, or can't you find your way around XFCE)
The ISO is fairly bare bones and light. But you should be able to connect to the internet, open the software manager and run linuxcnc.

[edit]
The changeover from LinuxMint might be a little bumpy but pretty much anything you might think your missing can be installed, you can even change the desktop manager to cinnamon as in LinuxMint.
