I just run linuxcnc and try this command, it does nothing, only if I change to the 5i20 board can see his pins (even if not connect to the 7i33ta card).
its not needed to load any kind of driver/firmware to be able to access to the 7i73?
on the 7i73 had a solid red cr1 led indicating communication watch dog fault. in setup mode had a solid cr1 and a solid green cr2 (it should blinks).
tanks,
João

If you start linuxCNC with the 7I73 connected, you can run:
halcmd show pin | grep 7i73
To give you a list of available HAL pins in the current 7I73 mode

Setup mode is _only_ for flashing new software to the 7i73. it won't work at all with LinuxCNC in Setup Mode.
Put it in normal mode, and LinuxCNC should self-configure.

How is the 7i73 connected to the rest of the system? (What is on the other end of the CAT5 cable?)

Maybe a problem with the ribbon cable?
If you haven't already tried it, try swapping the ribbon cables around, and also try different sockets in the 7i44.
Which firmware are you using? Do you definitely have the 7i44 ribbon cable in the port corresponding to the smart-serial channels?
Can you attach the contents of dmesg?

the ribon cable its ok, they work in other daughter board.
current its in 5i20 ports is:
p2=7i37
p3=7i33
p4=7i44
I read the datasheet and can find any mention to smart-serial channel channels. the firmware used is svst8_4 with 4 encouders and 4 pwms.

Thats the wrong FPGA configuration, you need one with SS in the name
probably SVSS4_8 (4 servo channels 8 SSerial channels)
