Hi All

Have the hardware 3x20 - 6i68 and 7i52 to prove up a machine, 6 encoder, 6 step/dir.

Located PIN_SVST6_6_7i52S_48 which looks suitable.

Are BIT file's available for this configuration if suitable or will this require the file to be built?

Thanks!

If you have a 7I52S, the PIN_SVST6_6_7i52S_48.vhd file can be used (with a little hacking to make it into PIN_SVST6_6_7i52S_144.vhd) to compile a proper bit file

I can do this sometime tomorrow if you can wait

Thanks!

freeby.mesanet.com/3x20_1M_svst24_24_7i52s.bit

should be right for a 1M 3X20 with 1x to 4x 7I52S's

(this config has 24 stepgens and 24 encoders possible, seemed silly to just have 6 max on a 3X20)

Thanks Peter agreed on the config.

Could PNCConf be used to setup the 7I52?

I dont think pncconf has a step/dir +encoder feedback configuration option
I can make up a simple one on Tuesday as an example (today is a holiday in the US)

freeby.mesanet.com/3x20encstep.zip
has example hal and ini files for a simple 3 axis
closed loop stepgen system with encoder feedback
(basically the standard hm2-stepper example config hacked for encoder feedback)

Notes

1. I renamed the bit file to svst24_24.bit since long bitfile names sometimes cause troubles
2. the files assume 10000 counts per inch and 10000 steps per inch

Loaded the files for the 3x20 and have configured a setup using PNCConf.

When the configuration is run the debug shows:

Debug file information:
insmod: error inserting '/usr/realtime-3.4.55-rtai-2/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko': -1 No such device
filament_winder.hal:9: exit value: 1
filament_winder.hal:9: insmod failed, returned -1

Offending line from the .hal file: setp hm2_5i23.0.watchdog.timeout_ns 10000000

Have changed a number of config settings such as num of encoders and step gen to no avail, can you advise what may need to be checked?

Looks like you are using a 5i23 example file

To launch the example file I posted you would have to select
"3x20encstep" from the chooser (assuming you unzipped the
3x20encstep zip file in ~/linuxcnc/configs/somesubdir)

or launch linuxcnc from the command line:
linuxcnc 3x20encstep.ini
