Well once again I spoke to soon. It appears that there is some sort of problem with the tool table editor.
Some times it works and but most often it fails to open. A bit of a pain in the neck

There is a problem there. I keep meaning to isolate it, and raise a bug tracker.
A workaround is to launch the tool editor from the command line. You could even add it to the CNC menu.
the command is "tooledit"

Just so you know the 2.6 branch has not been created yet, so your most likely working with master. I would make it easier to trouble shoot if you used the correct branch name.
