Yea I get the gist of it. I am new to cnc. I been trying to treat this controller like a piece of old legacy computer equipment. So I started shopping on Newegg and found plenty of desktops with parallel and serial ports.

And wondering if a serial port to parallel port setup would work?

please dont buy a new PC for this task.
You are overspending on hardware that in my experience performs worse than older machines.

The extra power and features can cause problems and increased latency from the machines i have tested.

Older machines from around the core 2 duo and such era seem to be best in my testing.

Please look at the used market for a old pc even if it 10 years.
