Why the attitude? I did not say that you have the wrong drives your drive are single ended.
Do you understand this part of the manual:
Step motor drives with single ended inputs
connect to just one of the STEP and DIR signal outputs, that is either the STEP+/DIR+ or
STEP-/DIR- signals,
with the unused signals left unconnected at the 7I76E. The input
common signal on drives with single ended inputs connects to the 7I76Es GND or 5VP
pins depending on the drive type.
What? Yes I read the manual and I actually built one before. Everything electronically remains the same except for the board. I built my last one with a 7i96 board. These drivers worked for that build. So what you’re suggestion is that I have then the wrong drivers entirely? Or are you suggesting that I need to disconnect one the step/dir pairs? I’ll try that but I’m not sure that will do anything.
What about these drivers? STEPPERONLINE CNC Stepper Motor Driver 1.0-4.2A 20-50VDC 1/128 Micro-Step Resolutions for Nema 17 and 23 Stepper Motor www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y5VPSFN/ref=cm_sw_r..._encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I’m sorry, though I didn’t intend for that passage to come across as a me having an attitude. I don’t have one. I was just unsure about what you were saying.
I believe I understand that, it’s saying that if I have a single input driver then I should only connect a single pair of dir and step, either + or -. Along with that it sounds like you’re also saying I need to connect the GND and 5VP potentially. What is my drive type and how do I figure that out?

Don't over think it. just wire step+ and step - on the mesa card to pul+ and pul- pins on the drive and do the same for direction.
Some of the docs in drives like this are for systems with active low outputs and don't apply to the 7i76e
I have used similar DM542 drives this way.

BTW - your motors are possibly going to draw too much current for those drives, if the motor is rated 5A and the drive is 5.6A Peak (4.0A RMS) - at the very least the drives are going to get hot.
I'm not sure what other behavior the drives may exhibit when connected to a load higher than it can handle....it may go into an overcurrent shut down - hence your buzzing.
