+-10 volt spindle?

Well I thought my spindle drive was 0-10 with forward / reverse signals. I was gonna use the example to figure it out. Now it turns out that the drive has enable and 0- -10 = reverse and 0 - +10 = forward. So now I am at a loss on even where to start. Anyone have any examples? Would like it working as it should with M3/M4 commands and a S number. I have a mesa 5125 w 7i77. My spindle is 3450rpm at 10 volts. there is no brake and once enable is removed it brakes on its own.

Is the +-10v control isolated (like a standard VFD) or is is hot (like a KBIC brush motor drive)?

If its isolated, you can use a 7I77 analog output to drive it (channel 5 because it has a separate enable)

I dont quite understand but I would assume its isolated as I was able to make the drive work with a AA battery. If I switch the terminals around it spins the other way. The enable turns the drive on. Thats just a contact. (short them together the drive comes on)


Can you maybe give me an example on how to do it? Not the greatest with HAL as this is my first venture in LinuxCNC.

That would probably work for either type but you might get shocked with
a non-isolated control!

What is the model number and manufacturer of the spindle controller?

I will have to look. prob not the smartest but i held the wires to the battery with my fingers

The drive is a Fuji FSD-15DN21

Its on a 1979 Hitachi Seiki 3NE-300

OK thats definitely isolated so you should be able to use a 7I77 analog output channel
(channel 5) to drive it and enable it

Any chance you could give me some example code to work with on this? The software end of this project has been a huge learning curve for me.

Have you tried using pncconf? That might be a good starting point
