<sigh>

The pin name "spindle.0.timer2-run" is hard coded in the .comp file.

Even though you don't have a timer.2 there is still a timer.2 pin coming out of the spindle component.

I am not even sure you need the spindle component. I can see that it does clever stuff to sequence the startup and shutdown and errors on _his_ spindle, but you didn't look to be asking for that.

I am sorry for any confusion. Ill see if I can clarify this .I did use 3 timers on my hal file because I needed delays for things like turrets seating and chuck open/close. I had to give the spindle some time to wind down before pulling the run signal or I had no dynamic braking and got an over current alarm. Anyway, add this to your hal file and it should work.

addf timedelay.2 servo-thread

loadrt timedelay count=3

For what its worth,I went thru the same trail by fire its worth it.....

JR1050, what did you do about the issue of moveing the spindle by hand causing it to shut down the machine with a joint 0 following error.?

Please post.your hal file and ini file. Joint 0 should be the x axis. I.have the spindle set up on joint 1,which is often considered y as an axis. Do you have the axis set to linear in your .ini file?

Sorry it is set to 1. Its joint 1 that gives the error not 0. If I rotate the spindle by hand it turns off the main power relay with an alarm. I am not sure if its linear as all I have is what you told me to put in there for the spindle.

Thanks,
Wes

This is all I have in my INI for the spindle...
##spindle
[SPINDLE_1]
MAX_VELOCITY = .5
MAX_ACCELERATION = 20.0
BACKLASH = 0.000
INPUT_SCALE = 4096
OUTPUT_SCALE = 1.
OUTPUT_OFFSET = 0.0
MAX_OUTPUT = 1.0
# PID tuning params
DEADBAND = 0
P = 0
I = 0
D = 0
FF0 = 0
FF1 = 0
FF2 = 0
BIAS = 0

Will I have to tune any of these values to match my setup?

I need you tp put up both.your hal and ini files as attachments. For.some reason you.are getting a following error on your spindle, which you shouldnt get.It makes me wonder if maybe your encoder count isnt set right. Please put up your files and ill see if.i..can replicate it.

I will be heading over to the shop in about an hour. I will zip up the whole config and post it. Maybe I could get you to take a look while I am there so I can get this part hammered out? If not I fully understand and will wait till you get the time.

Thanks,
Wes
