That message is information only. It's a concern, but won't stop the machine running.
Have you taken Axis out of e-stop and turned it on? (top left pair of buttons, or F1 then F2)
If the motors turn freely when Axis in on, and there is no movement in Axis then this may well be the amp-enable signals (though the wiring diagram shows the amp-enables of the drives unconnected. The stepconf axis test does not toggle the amp-enable signals, but the final configuration produced does (but of course, this can only have any effect if the enables are wired up)
The wiring diagram suggests that the amp-enables are 5V for on (or disconnected for on), ie apply 0V to ENA- to turn off the drive.

I did not take Axis out of e-stop or turned it on. I will try it. Thanks.

taking Axis out of e-stop or turning it on worked!
Just need to tweak my settings. I have it microstep set to 8. I thinking going down to 4 for x and y. X and Y seem a little choppy. Any ideas on how to smooth them out?
Thanks!

You could try lower acceleration numbers.

Make the timings longer and also the base thread.
That will smooth the drives.
Regards,
Tom

I don't think this is true.

It actually is for chinese drives. Cheap drives use slow optocouplers that tend to be very picky for timing and also very slow to react.
The drive power set low can do that same choppy movement, but that can be checked by lowering the machine velocity.
Regards,
Tom

What is a good starting point for max_acceleration and max_velocity? Thanks.

That depends, how heavy are the moving parts, how powerful are the motors, gear reduction?
These are the settings I have on an old Digitaltool CNC router, 20 inches/sec^2 acceleration rate and 10 inches/sec (600ipm).
But what will work best for your machine will depend on your machine.
For the most part you will want to set the acceleration as high as you can without loosing steps even at the highest speed you will use, minus a safety margin.
