I have the same problem: the tab appears but is empty. Version 2.8.4.
The configuration from the SIM examples works.
By the way, it installs on 2.9.4 without any problems, but... there are other latency issues that I also can't solve.
I got the files for 2.8.4 from here github.com/andypugh/LatheMacros/releases/tag/v2.0
And for 2.9.4 from /3.1
I put everything in the machine's configuration folder
And added the EMBED_TAB.... lines from your lathe_macros.ini to my .ini file.
What am I doing wrong?

Can you start LinuxCNC from the command-line and paste the output here?

After running a few tests, it appears that, in my case, the problem was caused by a missing software package. Installing gir1.2-rsvg-2.0 fixed the issue for me.
It is also worth mentioning that I installed Glade and configured it to use GTK 3.16 and WebKit2GTK 2.28.
For reference, I am running LinuxCNC 2.9.8 RMD on a Raspberry Pi 5.
Hopefully, this helps anyone experiencing a similar issue.
