Pathpilot V2 and 7i96 MESA Card

Hmmmm - i wonder what could be missing form the PP version of 2.8

My mission is to work inside of the PP boundaries so that THEY have to do all teh hard work. But then IF I cannot do teh simple functions that we developed in other controls that make CNC life easier then that is teh end of PP and we go back to square one.

The great empty chasm between teh GUI and teh Gcode side MAY be a big problem As I have not been able to find a way to pass things such as #var or messages back and forth between teh two intities.

THAT would be a bummer as teh basics of PP are nice. BUT nice only goes so far in getting billable work done.

Out of interest have you got a 'standard' linuxcnc 2.8 install you could try the bit file on?

NO I do not work with LinuxCNC. Only PathPilot as per say.

No problem and thanks for your efforts. Seems like we are so close yet so far! WIth the 7i96 configuration utility I was hoping we could get PP up and running relatively painlessly.

Such a shame as the interface and conversational stuff in PP is fantastic - looks like it's back to the drawing board on hardware choice.

You could use a 7I76E (more expensive but more I/O)

could you not take the hostmot driver from 2.8/9 and backport to 2.8-pre1.

That should work though you would lose compatibility with Tormach Ethernet controllers

I assume the 7i76e will work ok with pathpilot? As i'm building a lathe, IO requirements aren't great hence the thought of using a 7i96 to save a nit of money

If you're feeling brave....... i've complied a version of 2.8.0-pre1 on a virtual machine. I've just copied the HM2 files from the rtlib folder and attached them below.
