Should this "Pause At End" come into play if a user presses Pause or should the arc immediately extinguish?

I think during a cut you would not pause. Just turn it off. You might not have enough material left on a restart to get an ArcOK.

But Pause is an intrinsic part of LinuxCNC and I think we need to account for what happens if it is used.

Would you not Pause to do say a consumable change if you notice it during a cut?

But on a restart you will pause again for the pierce delay so you will be doubling up, causing big divots and probably not leaving enough material to get a valid ArcOK on the restart so you could ruin the job......

I read that as being that you would not press pause during a cut.

Is that what you meant or did you mean:
If you pause during a cut you would not activate the Pause At End timer, turn the torch off immediately.

If the user pauses the torch should stop - but if the part is being cut, the pause at the end would still be as per normal

Thanks Stefan, I think that is also what Rod means but I interpreted his post a bit differently.
