Yes, the leds of the mode buttons indicate the mode, regardless if the button is checked or not, although they are normally synchronized. I think if you hit a limit switch, you need the quickest path to recovery. It has happened to me too when I was using crappy micro switches.for homing and the switch didn't work. It is a bit frustrating. I'll wait for some feedback before changing anything.

The mode buttons don't seem to be out of sync.
