After some month, I go back to the design of the machine.

Because it is now very difficult to instal CATIA on a Mac, I have change design software to FreeCAD and learn how to use it.

I had to go from scratch. The design is in progress.
Here some pictures :

the stem :

the carriage

the walk-through unit

the base (LH & RH)

The base profile is 30x30 with 8mm slots.
for the first build, the dark red plate will be made in 15mm plywood for concrete.

The strokes are now 900x900x300. I have change the title of this subject according to this.

Last days, I work again on the machine design.
The last design allow me to raise the strokes. Values are now 900x900x320mm.
I get an estimate of the mobile part mass, and I was worried about stepper motors capacities. So I make a simplified calculation. I give you the worksheet (in a zip file). It is a long time (25 years) that I made this kind of calculation so there must be mistakes. The first one is that I don't use scalar numbers.

Removed (a lot of mistakes)
Safety factors a good so I hope that motors will work fine but they are not so good because of the 22mH phase inductance.

Hi,
Now, I'v got a good idea of what the router will be able to do.
I have check the calculation (.ods in the .zip).

The bad news is that the NEMA 34 11,3Nm that I have are not so good. I will have to replace them with this one in the calculations.
