First, I would like to thank all who make this Forum possible!
I have recovered from prior set back and currently using a pre loaded hard drive (Linux Mint 17.3) from BigJohnT (many thanks) with a 5 vdc power supply at TB1 (on 7i77 card); with W5 & W1 to the Right hand side and W2 on the 5i25 card is in the up spot. Attached are the error, ini and hal files as of the most recent attempt. The DRO does not respond, all the lights look correct on the cards and power supply. The error file states a hal 56 problem, any help would be most warmly welcomed.

many thanks!!

I get this error when I have no VIN on the field voltage connector on 7i77.

You are currently shorting out the FPGA cable power by having the
5I25 W2 jumper "up" and 7I77 W5 in the right hand position.

If you use cable cable power you need 5I25 W2 up and 7I77 W5 left
If you use external 5V power for the 7I77 you need 5i25 W2 down and 7I77 W5 right

Unless you have a very good reason, W1 in the 7I77 should always be in the left position

Many thanks PCW, after a closer look and what to look for it appears the CR3 light does not light. If there is no additional control devices, do I need the 24 v power supply and all that goes with it?

many thanks

If you don't use any field I/O (TB7 and TB8) you don't need field power

It appears the CR3 light (located just to the left of TB7, to the top, right on the edge) does not light, I have swapped encoder 0 & 1 "went to" encoder 2 & 3 located at TB3 & TB4; in addition to the associated DRV 0 & 1 "went to" DRV 2 & 3, with the hope, if there was something possibly just goofed up at the original settings. This does not appear to be the case, CR3 light does not light, leaving me to think this card has issues. Does anybody know this to be correct or not.

Many many thanks!!

CR3 will not light (and the 7I77 field I/O section will not work)
unless you have 8 to 32V field power supplied to TB2

andypugh, thanks for your input, If there are no additional control devices, do I need the 24 v power supply and all that goes with it, going to TB2? Is power required, when the plan has no other devices?

many thanks in advance for any help!!

edit: now I see that this is used for both (analogout section and if you had travel stops or something else) the "powers the analogout section" as per "andypugh" many many thanks! had to read and think about it more to understand that this is the power for the low side of the encoder.

The 7I77 analog section is powered by the 5V logic power

The 7I77 field I/O section is powered by 8-32V field power
