That's why you have "hm2_5i25.0.encoder.03.counter-mode not found"
You have only enabled encoders 0,1,2

Many many thanks!
I have pondered what andypugh and PCW are suggesting and that would be to edit to 2 from the existing 3. I try to restrain myself, without confirmation will not go backward in progress if possible. Again I offer my many thanks to all that help make this happen.

Theres no reason not to enable all encoders (num_encoders=6)

Ponder some more ;-)

You need num_encoders to be 4 to enable encoders 0,1,2,3

But, as PCW says, there isn't any reason to disable any of them.

Many thanks PCW and andypugh, attached are dmesg, .ini and print error files. Again I ponder, "axes.3.motor-pos-fb" I see this line, 7 lines above the # AXES Z in the .hal files. The only thing I see that maybe the issue is the 3 needs to go to 03, as to match the other code in that area. just a guess. unless this like before and needs to go to 6.

Many thanks for everyone's help especially PCW, andypugh, tommylight and bevins, I would not be this far without your help!!

You have to change the config for X and Y axis, just replace anything pertaining to axis 2 to axis 1 and axis 3 to axis 2, also encoders and analog ouuts.

There should be axis 0, 1 and 2. You have them as 0,2,3

tommylight I have from earlier posted this:

I have swapped encoder 0 & 1 "went to" encoder 2 & 3 located at TB3 & TB4; in addition to the associated DRV 0 & 1 "went to" DRV 2 & 3.

The thinking behind my approach was the layout of the 7i77 card calls out the location, to match to .hal file. If this is not the correct way and it recognizes 0,1,2 no matter location on 7i77 card will gladly rework.

many thanks!!
