Been running the latency test for 8 hours now and it is just a tad bit below 7k ns. So about 3k better than doing nothing at all on the D510MO.

John, how do you connect LPT cable to D510MO's PCB?

There is a header on the motherboard, so you have to find a 26pin (I think) ribbon cable to DB25 cable. I found one from and old computer my spare parts box.

Try it with a web-cam tab (and a web cam). Mine really messes up the latency, which is a real shame.

No thanks, I learned from you not to do that to the D510MO... after 24 hours it is at 7218ns. So I would have to say that it improved my latency doing those two steps.

Hello guys,

I have this motherboard here right now out of the box - going to be using some Mesa cards with it and the idea is a linux only install on a 32Gb SSD...

How did you install Ubuntu/EMC on it without a CD drive ? I've heard it can be done via a USB stick, but a google search is a bit messy on this topic - any links or instructions (for an inept mac user) for a known solution would be great

Thanks for your research on this, the D510 looks like it might be a good way to go but I am confused about whether I can use one PCI slot or if I need more.

Reading the other thread in the CNC Machines section about the MV35/40 retrofit, I saw there was some grouping of Mesa cards that would work for one slot but there were some conditions about base threading that I don't understand yet.

I am planing a retrofit for an Mori Seiki MVJR servo driven CNC Mill. Presently 3 axis with tool changer but it has servos for 5 axis, not sure if I will ever use them or not.

Thanks for any advice.

A base thread is not needed with Mesa cards (effectively the base thread runs on the FPGA card)
