Joypad question: was created by dab77
Hallo, there's a thing about using joypads, that is not clear to me..
is it possible with emc2 to use only normal buttons and directions, or do also the dynamics directions work?

i mean, is it possible to jog as fast as i press the joystick? , or is it only on/off?

thanks, Davide.

If the joystick output is analog then the yes the jog is proportional to the joystick angle from 0 to 1 I think most are.

thanks John, and does it works both in joint and world mode? and does the joypad need something like calibration?

after that i swear, i'm not going to ask more, before trying to setup a working joypad!

I assume you are using this ...
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Simple_Remote_Pendant

You do not need to do any calibration, the proportional speeds are set in your hal file to what works for your machine.

You can then go on to program different buttons for different functions.

I don't have a clue about joint or world modes... and ask all the questions you need to.

There are some limitations generally for jogging in world mode, at least they were there in 2.3 for U V W axes.
I'm not aware of limitations specifically using a joypad, but I never used one.

ok! i would like to use it for my inverted tetrapod, so i need first to jog the 4 single joints (dynamically would be better) and then change to world mode and jog the XYZ position, dynamically, so i think i will need that two joypad axis will jog X and Y, and to use another joypad axis to control Z at the same time.
can you confirm that it can work this way?

thanks, davide.

Take a look here...

Not sure why you would need 2 joypads the joypad has 4 axis.

hallo, i just setup one Logitech dual pad to jog my inverted tetrapod,
and it plays not bad into joint mode.

i have a problem in world mode, since i can jog only one direction each time.
for example, if i'm jogging in x direction, as soon as i push the analog
joystick toward the y direction it stops, but without errors. than i
press again and i can jog, but always one direction each time.

is it normal?
any idea?

thanks.
