I am fresh maschine user, studying weeke for last few months, it is a great maschine all components are best of the best in that time. My maschine is in good shape, ballscrews are 0-backlash everything beside control is good , so i want to take max. of it. I am considering right now what hardware to purchase, if choose ethercat could you forward setup files for linuxCNC and ethercat? BP 05 is similar to BP10 and BP15, maybe i won't need to change anything. I dont know anything about linux os and i know it will be headbreaking procedure but i am not in hury. I understand your passion about job you are doing, cnc maschines are such a wonderfull toys.

Lavalu made nice presentation on youtube, best for linuxCNC i have seen.

Do you know what components did he use?

okay, with no deep knowledge of bussystem, realtimesystems, linux, gcc, git ... it would be a hard way.
I can assist you with setup hal and ini files, but at the moment I'm not yet able to share plc components or so. Because
they use special libs from my company....
On the other hand there is the "Mesa" Way, there is an much bigger community who can assist you...

I only know that lavalu uses linuxcnc.

I have counted I/O on WEEKE, it is 24 outs and 23 ins and additional 4 outs, 3 ins might be usable in future. Mesa 5i25+7i77 is 34(17+17) I/O for 5i25 and 48 I/O for 7i77, i am confused, this kit is connected via one DB25, so is it only 17 I/O?

What is best way to expand this kit to 54> I/O

I see that 7I77 is out of stock for a while, does anybody know how long it can take?

List of linuxCNC-MESA compatibile boards is much broader on MESA site than linuxcnc.org. 5i24 or 6i24 or 7i80HD + 7i65(can't find how much I/O ) is in supported group on mesanet site and it is in stock. Can i find help for instalation of this configuration on forum?

The Mesa 5i25+7i77 card set has 32 12/24V digital inputs, 16 12/24V digital outputs,
6 encoder inputs, and 6 analog outputs. In addition it has one serial expansion port
which can be used to expand I/O. For example if a 7I84 was added
( that is connected to the 7I77s serial expansion port) you would gain an additional
32 inputs and 16 outputs for a total of 64 12/24V inputs and 32 12/24V outputs)

This is all using only one 17 bit port on the 5I25.

If you use the other 5i25 port, you can expand to over 400 realtime
digital I/O points using multiple serial I/O expansion cards

The 7I76 and 7I77 (and 7I84) should be back in stock in about 2 weeks

Yes, you should be able to find support..

My own machine uses the 5i23 (and several other cards) and the 50-pin cards are fully supported by LinuxCNC.

You might also want to check stock at the two EU stockists:

eusurplus.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=63 (out of stock of 7i77)
www.duzi.cz/shop_cnc/index.php?main_page...3fb21d6723d326c4d2c8 (Also out of stock of 7i77)

I would suggest 5i24 / 6i24 rather than 7i80HD at the moment, the ethernet card support is still a little experimental.

Any 50-pin daughter card should work with any 50-pin FPGA card. And any DB25 daughter card should with any DB25 FPGA card.

And then there is store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...74_80&product_id=285 which can adapt the DB25 cards to work with a 50-pin FPGA card if you need to.

The mystery of how a 17-pin card can have so many IO pins is that many are addressed by a serial protocol.

I have left a question on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. two days ago, (How many I/O will provide, combination of 6I24+7I65(no info on net and manual))? Nobody is answering.
It is clear for 6I24 -72 I/O, but 7I65 is without I/O info, i am interested am i going to need 7I84 for expansion in this case, and if i add 7I84 do i need 7I73 in addition for pendant jog?
How do you take take cables out from PC case with 50 pin card? A assume, some upper bracket should be removed for cables to put trough.

The 7I65 provides only analog I/O and encoder input and requires another daughtercard for general purpose digital I/O

I would suggest a more common solution which is the 5I25 (or 6I25) and the 7I77.
If the built in 48 24V digital I/O of this combination is not enough, you can add a 7I84 and add 48 more I/O points.

The 7i84 is a smart-serial card and won't connect directly to a 6i24.
The "standard" digital-IO card for the 50-pin cards is the 7i37TA.

You can connect 8 x smart-serial cards to a 50-pin card with the 7i44 card.
In the DB25 family of cards the 7i76 and 7i77 have a single smart-serial port on a terminal block for IO expansion.
