Interface between ARM-Core and FPGA-Part works, using AXI.
next step: udp2axi program for the ARM-Core

just a playful child
the platform (zynq/vivado) is actually quite cool and if i hadn't approached it like the other fpga's, it would have been much easier.
if a linux is already on it, you only need a usb-serial adapter and you can configure the network.
the bitfile can then be copied and started via scp/ssh.
The downside of these things is that vivado is very slow and the FPGAs are very expensive when new.
and you should have 100gb of space on your disk

made it,
i bricked the board
because the linux version on it was too old i wanted to update, but that went wrong somehow, now i'm trying to compile a new one and get it running again somehow.
it's no fun and very time consuming

if i'm already putting so much time into the zynq parts, then it should be worth it
I've also ordered an Antminer s9 board, which has more IOs

Sorry to hear of the board bricking.
I thought the whole thing of the RIO project was to get away from any softcores or it may seem now hardware cores. Or is my lack of FPGA experience showing through once again

rio's goal is that it runs on all FPGAs.
since the znyq already has an arm core and is connected to ethernet, you should be able to use it.
at the moment i wouldn't advise anyone to use the board for RIO, the TangNano9k is much better suited.
But somehow it is a challenge for me to get everything running on the board and once everything is working it will certainly have some extended possibilities.

Ah yes I know that feeling. One has to do what one has to do.
I was a bit put off by the description of the conditions of the boards, I think on one of the github pages it was recommended to buy a couple of boards as they can be, as we say in Australianish, "a bit how ya goin".
Bit off topic but might be worth a few giggles.

oh well, rio also supports e.g. ROS and MQTT without LinuxCNC, so the ARM core can also be very helpful.
And it may even be possible to run LinuxCNC directly there without a GUI.
i can't say much about the conditions, the board i have looks quite good. And even if you always have to buy 2, it's still cheaper than a new single Zynq chip
