I don't understand what you mean my "squaring these types of engines"

I am guessing he is talking about spindle alignment, but that is a guess.

As an aside, the word "engine" used to be very much less specific, consider Babbages "Analytical Engine"

Friends that sentence ... google translator is wrong ...! :)

I'll try again:

my machine has a DC spindle motor, 50 Hp, brand reliance, reference maxpakplus,

my question is:

How hard is to get a DC motor work with Linuxcnc.

yo le pregunte a Rick (LAIR82) lo siguiente:
3. motor and spindle drives are Reliance? vector max plus?

El respondio esto:

No the DC motor was bad so we just upgraded to an Automation Direct Durapulse 40hp drive with a 40hp Baldor vector w/encoder feedback motor

The maxpakplus
literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/gr...s/um/mxpkp-um002.pdf
Looks like a very capable (if rather complex) drive.

It ought to be very easy to connect to the 7i77 though, just a case of connecting the +/- 10V from one of the servo analogue lines to terminal 326 and 156 on TB3.
I imagine there will need to be all sorts of config and programming and enabling to be done on the drive, but the LinuxCNC part is easy.

This is the manual of the spindle drive

www.reliance.com/pdf/drives/instruction_manuals/D3867.pdf

if it is true does not work, I'm screwed. I have not to buy something.

Thanks john.

regarding siemens driver, and sorry if I do not understand your answer. you say that only connect 14 and 56 and ready work.?

Looks fine except all the logical control signals are 120VAC input.
Its pretty likely that these are already connected to a 2IO4B rack so the 24VDC-->120VAC level shift may already be done for you.

This, and the state machine way the control inputs work probably means
you need to use 7I77 or 7I64 outputs for the 24 V signals that drive the
2IO4B that drives the 4 spindle control signals (manual page 21)

Also note figure 4.8 on page 57 This should be close to how it is wired now
So the first step on the spindle interfacing is tracing whats already there
(or better yet reading if you have the machine manual)

You want to retain as much of the original safety and interlock wiring as possible

a 50 HP spindle can kill you in milliseconds

thanks peter,

My understanding is this:

these signals determine the protection and indicate that the DC motor must be started or stopped?

I say take all possible actions to take care of my life protection, and scared me ... : (

good signal 32 and 34 go to a "SQUARE D CLASS 9999 PN22"

and 188 and 44 signals come from a relay to 24 volts.

thanks

That's an auxiliary contact block: (some extra terminals to mount on top of a contactor)

So there is probably a contactor underneath that which may be part of the E-stop logic

you're right, call a friend electronic engineer, I am coming today to give me a hand.

I'm trying to configure my board MESAnet, "5i25" and "7i77" are perfect,
but I can not see the inputs and outputs of "7i64".

Read this thread:

www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/compo...ew&catid=39&id=22360

cmorley follow the steps explained, but I can not succeed.

as data I have the serial cable from the "7i64" connected to TB2 of "7i77", only the red LED CR11.

is that annoyingly long but please help me.

thanks.

Do you mean that you can't see them in PNCConf, or that they are not there at all?

The 7i64 should just work, it is the longest-supported of the smart serial boards.

As a test, what happens if you type the following in the terminal window:
halrun
loadrt hostmot2
loadrt hm2_pci
loadrt threads
addf hm2_5i25.0.read thread1
addf hm2_5i25.0.write thread1
addf hm2_5i25.0.pet-watchdog thread1 (this might need to be pet_watchdog, but pressing tab will auto-complete after h and after p)
start
show pin
