You are right, Rufus is the way to go on building the USB drive.
The only problem I'm having is the Software Manager hangs up and says "Loading please wait".
Linuxcnc loaded my old config files and started with no problems.

After few years i'm slowly gatherig new stuff to make comeback to linuxcnc.
Generally i'm little bit affraid to getting back my small and lost knowledge
Now i got some sort of problem. Trying to get my WiFi dongle work after installing mint.
On Live this dongle works, but after instaling Mint on my M720q Mint shows on Advanced network connections WiFi (with known my network which i've provided during instalation from LIVE).
But on taskbar it only shows Ethernet.

With the dongle in, try running Driver Manager.
Look at www.fosslinux.com/134500/how-to-install-...rs-on-linux-mint.htm
It covers Wi-Fi drivers.

Yeah, forgot to mention that, most WiFi i have do not work with this kernel, while they all work with 4.9.n and 6.8.n RT kernels.
Did not bother with why at all, as i can reboot and choose the generic kernel where everything works.
Adding this to original post, thank you for reminding me.
Edit
Also added how to get to GRUB to choose the generic kernel in the original post.

I'm currently running Mint 19.3 and the 2.9.0 pre-release with the 5.something RTAI kernel. Is there value in upgrading to mint 22.1 with the RT-preemtive kernel?
I don't have issue with version 2.9.0 pre-release but lack of 19.3 support concerns me since this system does have network connectivity for transferring files.
Thoughts?

No worries, it is Linux and 19.3 still gets security updates and Firefox also updates regularly.
I have probably over 10 machines on 19.3 in daily use, connected to internet with no issues.

Had to change the RT kernel to 6.13 as when disabling BIOS stuff the 6.10 would fail to boot some 70% of the time.
This was on 2 laptops (Lenovo X1 Yoga and Yoga 370) and my main PC (14400 with RX6800).
So far tested on laptops only, will do more installs and if all is good, replace the ISO.
Stay tuned.
FYI:
6.10 works fine for Mesa boards, even with default BIOS settings, but will do 170000-280000 in latency, and that is on the limit of what i consider safe, disabling just Hyperthreading and ATM (or AMT?) would bring that down to safe numbers.
With everything in BIOS of Y370 disabled and CPU in powersave mode on batteries, i could get the latency under 100000 and testing with base period of 100000 would show no warnings for hours. Did not test with power attached.

The download still claims 2.10 rather than 2.13.

Kernel is changed from 6.10.nn to 6.13.nn.
LinuxCNC is still the same 2.10 version, there is no "2.13" version of it.
I have not updated the download yet, only i after i do over 10 successful installs.
